With all the free COVID-19 money being given out by the government via stimulus checks, an extra $600 per week in unemployment, and forgivable Small Business Association loans, one group was conspicuously missing: Mom & Pop Landlords. Well, not any more – at least in Los Angeles.

This is a win-win for tenants who are having tough time making rent and their landlords.

The City of Los Angeles Emergency Renters Assistance Subsidy Program ends this Friday, 7/17/2020.

The program will provide a temporary rent subsidy for eligible residential tenants in the City of Los Angeles who are unable to pay rent due to circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The subsidy will provide a grant of up to $1,000 per month to cover the monthly lease/rent (based on the rent paid as of March 1, 2020), with a maximum of $2,000 per household. The rent subsidy will be paid directly to the tenant’s landlord on the tenant’s behalf. This program will be available to renters of multifamily rental housing who meet the program requirements.

Go here for details about the program.

Landlords: Forward this information to your tenants.

Tenants: Apply by Friday night! You could get $2,000 in free rent payments!!
