I mentioned last week, that Southwest might roll out a very easy way to get their Companion Pass. They did – just like the past two Februarys. The Companion Pass saves me thousands annually.
For a limited time, earn a Southwest Companion Pass good through 2/28/24 plus 30,000 points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.
If you don’t know how glorious the Southwest Companion Pass is, read more here. In short, whenever you fly Southwest, whether you paid for your flight with cash or points, your companion flies with you for free. Heck, you could do this daily! Whenever means whenever. The Southwest Companion Pass has saved me thousands of dollars. It even works for international flights. You can also change who you designate as your companion up to three times each calendar year! Although your companion’s ticket is free, you will have to pay the TSA security fee of $5.60 one-way, or $11.20 round-trip. It’s pretty great!
$4,000 is a lot of money ($45/day) but here are easy ways to meet that without buying stuff you don’t need: 11 Ways To Meet A Spending Requirement.
This new(ish) and less complicated offer is good for the Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus, Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier, and Southwest Rapid Rewards Priority credit card.
There is a $69 annual fee on the Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus credit card. The offer ends 3/13/23.
Thanks for clicking on this Airline Credit Cards widget below to get more info. Full disclosure: If you click on “Apply Now” – you will be whisked away to another secure site. There you will find the Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus card is currently the seventh one down the page. I can get a commission if you get there via ChipsMoneyTips.com. So… Thanks for clicking my link below! Email me if you have any questions.

Can you use the companion ticket for yourself to ensure an empty seat next to you?
I am told that yes we can reserve the seat. I wonder how difficult it would be to make sure it stays that way, when 200 people file by asking if the seat is open. Maybe Southwest has a plan in place. Please report back if you find out something!
