Get NFL Sunday Ticket for Free
DirecTV’s offer expired. Get your NFL team’s Visa card here!
How do you get NFL Sunday Ticket for free?
A) Steal it?
B) Do DirecTV’s new promotion?
C) Do what I suggest - better than DirecTV’s deal
A) I could argue that DirecTV was the one stealing by charging $340 to watch my Bengals’ brand of frustrating football. Three winning seasons out of the last twenty can tempt a man to thievery. For 2012, they dropped it to $199.95. That’s more reasonable. Besides, it’s best to not spend the 7th day resting while simultaneously shattering one of the Commandments.
B) Reader Blake asked me if I was hip to the current promotion from DirecTV to get NFL Sunday Ticket essentially for free (scroll down). I do not recommend it. What it boils down to is a credit card promotion that gives you a $200 statement credit – the price of NFL Sunday Ticket. If you spend $750 on the card by the end of the year, you’ll receive the credit sixth months from now.
I like credit card bonuses as a way to get free cash to splurge on fun stuff like this, but there are better bonuses than DirecTV’s.
C) Here are three cards that will get you better bonuses than DirecTV’s promotion:
1. Chase Sapphire Preferred – $400 cash or $500 in travel. That is the value of your 40,000 Ultimate Rewards points bonus, which you will receive after you spend $3,000 on the card during the first three months. Here is an easy way to meet that spending requirement.
2. Chase Ink Bold – $250 cash or $317 in travel. That is the value of your 25,000 Ultimate Rewards points bonus, which you will receive after you make only one purchase on the card. Buy a pack of Chiclets and you’ll get $250. This is a business charge card. Anyone can get it, just fill out the application as a “sole proprietor”. Here’s how your application should look.
3. Gold Delta SkyMiles Amex will give you 30,000 bonus SkyMiles (more than enough for a free flight) after charging $500 to your card in the first three months.
With a little finagling, it is possible to have luxurious things like NFL Sunday Ticket for no money out of your pocket. All annual fees for these cards are waived the first year. If you decide not to keep the card, you can always cancel it before paying an annual fee.

If you still want DirecTV’s deal – which I do NOT recommend because it gives you less bonus than my suggestions and you have to wait six months for their bonus, here it is.
