This flight is Free-ish. The British Airways Customer Service Rep said the Avios points would save me $919 on my flight from Los Angeles to London. I’d still have to pay taxes, fees, and charges totaling $600, but I’d have to pay that whether I purchased the ticket or used my Avios points.
There are no foreign transaction fees with this card. People living in the same household can combine points. You do not have to share any blood, just the same address. You get 1.25 Avios points for every $1 spent – double that on British Airways purchases.
British Airways is part of the One World Alliance. You can use these points to fly on those airlines which include American Airlines and Quantas among others. The best use of Avios points might be to fly domestically to avoid the hundreds of dollars in taxes fees.
